Wow.... I know that's what everyone says- but that's really the best word that describes the feeling of getting the email from Channel saying 'Congrats you are the next Spotlight boot camper'. I had to re-read it several times because I just couldn't believe it! What an honor and privilege it is to be chosen for this. For those that know me well --- they also know that the spotlight is not really where I like to be. I am more of a behind the scenes kinda gal- :) So having to write something that is all about me or thinking of something that will just be focused on me- is a little outside the box for me. So here goes......
I am a Texas transplant--- My family is from India but I was born and raised in Appleton, Wisconsin. Met my husband, Ben, at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We have been married 19 Years now. He is a Texas native so I knew it was only a matter of time before we moved out here. Moved here 15 years ago.
Growing up I was always into sports, I played soccer, softball, volleyball and basketball. And my hubby was big into basketball, and also played college level basketball so you already know his level of fitness is pretty high. We had our first 3 kids back to back- and I swear it felt like I was either pregnant or nursing pretty much for 6 years in a row! Ben traveled quite a bit for work and was usually gone Mon thru Thurs every week -so I was alone a lot with 3 little ones. I was usually pretty tired all the time and didn't focus much on me. And I made excuses to myself about how I just didn't have the time or energy to work out. So the extra lbs of baby weight just kind of stayed put. 4 years later we had our youngest baby girl. After she came along- I knew without a doubt -our family was finally complete. We have 4 beautiful kids- Tyler (17 yrs), Alex (15 yrs), Raina (13 yrs) and Alisha (8 yrs). My kids are all into sports/fitness as well - my boys are big into basketball, and my older daughter plays basketball and volleyball, and my youngest plays basketball. And I definitely want to be able to keep up with all of them- and you can't do that if you aren't healthy and taking care of yourself. So I knew I had to begin my journey to getting healthy and fit somewhere....
We moved to this side of town about 5 years ago. My best friend Anna was already out here and said the area was great and so were the schools. So we decided to come out here as well. And that's when I first met Channel. I would see her working out with groups of people at the football field. I always wanted to check it out- but was too intimidated to do so. As I started making friends in the neighborhood and getting involved in the schools, I would hear about this place called aMazen boot camp. Had no clue what it was about. But my friend Amy Craft would talk about it all the time and how much she loved it and how we should all try it with her. So one day I finally decided to try it. Had my first aMazen work out. And I could NOT MOVE the next day or the day after that either. But I loved it! Started out going only one day a week because I was still a member of a gym. But before I knew it -wanted to go more than 1 day a week. And today no More other gym memberships and I just come here. I don't like doing the same things over and over every day- and that's why I absolutely love going to ABC. It's been a slow but steady journey for me- but in 2 years I have lost about 25 lbs and can say that I am definitely in the best shape of my life. My journey is not complete yet....I just keep getting closer and will hopefully get there soon. I do know it is showing because when I see people I have not seen for a while- they comment on how different I look. And I get great support from my hubby who also notices a difference.
I absolutely love love love all the coaches-- Channel, Tommy, Jordan, Kelli, Tracy, Camilla, Alisha, Warren, Cecily & of course can't forget Angie (miss you!!) - thank you all for your time and dedication. Love the fact that you all seemed to know exactly when to push me harder and how to motivate me. And who doesn't love Sickler's crazy goofiness? She is actually one of my biggest motivators and is a huge part of why I would get up and go all the time. Last year if I used to miss class when she was coaching- I would get a text from her saying- and where were you this morning? Which frankly got quite annoying - so I decided to just go all the time instead of having her bug me like that.. Ha ha . Thanks Sickie- love u lots!!!
Glad school is back in session-- it's time to get back to my routine and especially back to my awesome ABC family!!
